'Boat' - Attribution: Nikiana is a small fishing village with a picturesque harbour which is a popular overnight stop for private yachts. It is rapidly turning into a tourist resort with sufficient accommodation options. It is located at a distance of 9 kilometres away from Lefkada Town and 7 kilometres away from the popular village of Nidri. Nikiana was founded by the residents of the mountainous village Alexandros located in the surrounding green cliffs.
Nikiana’s location is ideal for touring the island or for island hopping. Due to its beautiful surroundings with the rich vegetation, the olive trees and cypresses, the place is favoured by those seeking some relaxation and stress release. Families also prefer Nikiana for its close proximity to Lefkada Town. You can go shopping to the Town either by bus or by a rented car. Even though Nikiana is a quiet resort, there are some local bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a drink or have a meal if you don’t want to go to the Town.
There has been significant growth in the area, but the beaches are still intact and therefore there aren’t tourist facilities, such as sun loungers. However, what is better than the natural shade from the nearby trees and cliffs? Lie under it and enjoy the sandy and pebbly beach with the crystalline waters. If you like water sports, the Diving Centre of Lefkada is based here. Among other neighbouring beaches is that of Episkopos and Ligia.
The mountainous terrain of the area is ideal for walks or off road driving. The location of the village offers panoramic views of the East coast and the mountains of the mainland.
